Ce camouflage lui permet de se dissimuler dans l’environnement et se rendre notamment moins visible des prédateurs. Malin non? Les ailes du dessus de cette espèce appelée Salamis cacta sont quant à elles colorées d’orange avec de jolies touches bleutées. Ce papillon a été observé dans la Réserve Forestière d’Omo au Nigeria (pour découvrir le projet et d’autres espèces : www.explorecology.com).

 ?? With its wings closed, this butterfly looks like a dead leaf. But why? This camouflage allows it to hide in the environment and in particular make itself less visible to predators. Smart, isn’t it? The upper wings of this species called Salamis cacta are colored orange with pretty bluish touches.
